How to Add or Fix EPG in IPTV Smarters

In IPTV Smarters the guide depends mostly on how you logged in. Here's how to get EPG loading, refresh it, fix the time offset, and what to do if it never works.

In IPTV Smarters, the TV guide mostly depends on how you logged in. If you used an Xtream Codes login (server, username, password), Smarters downloads the guide from the same server automatically, and you just need to refresh it. If you used an M3U link, the guide often won't appear, and the simplest fix is to log in with Xtream details instead.

Before you spend long on this: IPTV Smarters Pro was removed from Google Play and the App Store in 2026 and no longer gets updates, and its menus vary between the many versions still in use. Guide bugs in the app itself won't be fixed. We'll cover what reliably works, then the better long-term option.

Step 1: Use an Xtream Codes login

On Smarters' first screen, you can add a user with Xtream Codes API or with an M3U URL. The Xtream option asks for a server address, username and password, and it's the one that brings the guide with it.

If you set up with an M3U link, check whether the link contains your login. In a link like http://server:8080/get.php?username=AAA&password=BBB&type=m3u_plus, the server is the part before /get.php, and the username and password are in the link. Add a new user with those Xtream details. More on this in M3U vs Xtream Codes.

Step 2: Let it download, then refresh

After logging in with Xtream details, Smarters downloads channels, films, series and the guide. The guide takes longest. If Live TV shows channels but no programme information:

  1. Wait a couple of minutes and reopen Live TV.
  2. Look for a refresh or reload option. Depending on your version, it's in Settings (an EPG or "refresh EPG" option), or a reload button on the main or Live TV screen.
  3. If there's no obvious option, log out of the user profile and log back in, which forces a fresh download.

Step 3: Fix wrong times

If programmes are right but an hour early or late:

  1. Check your device's date, time and time zone, and set them to automatic.
  2. If the device is right, look in Smarters' settings for an EPG time shift or offset, and move the guide by the difference.

Step 4: When some channels still have no guide

If most channels show programmes and a few don't, those channels' IDs don't match the guide file. It's the most common cause of partial guides in every player, explained in What is EPG? Smarters' tools for fixing individual channels are limited compared with newer players, so the practical fixes are to report the channels to the service or to switch players.

If no channels show programmes even with an Xtream login, the service may not provide a guide for that account or server, or its guide is broken. Ask the service; a well-run service will know. Our general guide to IPTV EPG not working covers device-level causes too.

If you're not sure whether the problem is the app or the guide, test the guide directly. For Xtream-based services, the guide address is usually your server address followed by /xmltv.php?username=YOURNAME&password=YOURPASSWORD. Paste that into a computer's browser:

  • A file downloads, or you see a wall of XML text: the guide exists, and the problem is in the app.
  • An error page or nothing: the guide isn't available for your account, the details are wrong, or the service is down.

Why the guide breaks after you renew

Guide links contain your username and password. When a service renews an account with new details, or you change your password, channels may keep working through the updated login while an old guide link saved separately quietly stops. Update the login in your profile, then refresh.

Smarters Player Lite on iPhone and Apple TV

The same developer's Smarters Player Lite is still on the US App Store, but it's a simpler app focused on M3U playlists, according to its store description (App Store listing). If you need a full guide on Apple devices, UHF or IPTVX are better choices.

The better fix: a player that's still maintained

If you're fighting Smarters for a working guide, move to a player that's actively developed and has proper guide tools. Your Xtream login works in all of them:

  • TiviMate on Android TV, Google TV and sideload-capable Fire TV: the best guide available, with manual channel matching and time shift. See how to add EPG to TiviMate.
  • UHF or IPTVX on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
  • Smart IPTV on Samsung and LG TVs.

Why we recommend moving rather than fixing is explained in what happened to IPTV Smarters Pro.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add EPG to IPTV Smarters?
Log in with Xtream Codes (server, username and password) rather than an M3U link. Smarters then downloads the guide from the same server automatically. Refresh it from the app's settings or reload option if it doesn't appear.
Why is EPG not working on IPTV Smarters Pro?
Usually because the profile uses an M3U link without guide data, the guide hasn't been refreshed, the service's guide is incomplete, or channel IDs don't match. The app also stopped receiving updates after its 2026 removal from the app stores.
How do I fix the EPG time in IPTV Smarters?
Check the device's time zone and automatic time first. If it's still off, use the EPG time shift or offset option in the app's settings to move the guide by the difference.
Is there a better player for EPG than Smarters?
Yes. TiviMate on Android TV and Fire TV, and UHF or IPTVX on Apple devices, have much better guides and are still maintained.
