Not in the official stores, no. IPTV Smarters Pro was removed from Google Play and Apple's App Store in early 2026, along with about 35 other IPTV apps. When we checked the US Google Play Store on 30 September 2026, its listing returned "not found", and the App Store had no Smarters Pro listing either. If it's already on your device it will probably keep running for a while, but it won't get updates, and you should be careful about where you get it from now.
Here's what happened, what it means for you, and which players to switch to.
What happened to IPTV Smarters Pro
IPTV Smarters Pro was, for years, one of the most downloaded IPTV players in the world. Like every player, it came with no channels. People added a playlist or Xtream Codes login from a service. The trouble is that a large share of those services were unlicensed, which made the app a target for rights holders.
It has been removed before:
- 2019: Google Play pulled it after a copyright complaint, then reinstated it after the developer disputed the claim.
- December 2022: a Madrid court, acting on a complaint from the Spanish football league LaLiga, ordered Google to remove it from the Play Store (TorrentFreak).
- March 2026: during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, the Indian broadcaster JioStar secured the takedown of 36 IPTV apps from Google Play and the iOS App Store. Together they had more than 26 million downloads. The named apps included IPTV Smarters Pro, XCIPTV, Televizo, VU IPTV Player and XTV Ultra (Storyboard18).
The 2026 removal is the one that stuck, at least so far.
What we found in the stores (30 September 2026)
Because a lot of articles about this were written by IPTV sellers with an interest in the answer, we checked the US stores ourselves:
| App | Google Play (US) | Apple App Store (US) |
|---|---|---|
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Not found | Not found |
| Smarters Player Lite (same developer) | n/a | Listed, updated September 2026 |
| "IPTV Smarters" by Multiverse Technologies | n/a | Listed, different developer |
| Televizo | Not found | Not found (a "Tvizo" app is) |
| XCIPTV | Listed | n/a |
| TiviMate | Listed | No iOS version exists |
Two things stand out. XCIPTV was on the JioStar list but was listed on US Google Play when we checked, so either it came back or the removal didn't apply everywhere. Store availability can differ by country and change without notice. And the App Store now has apps using the Smarters name that aren't from the original developer, which is exactly the kind of confusion copycats rely on.
If you already have IPTV Smarters Pro installed
Removing an app from a store doesn't delete it from your device. LaLiga has pushed Google and Apple to remotely wipe removed IPTV apps from users' phones, and so far they haven't done it (TorrentFreak). So your copy should keep opening.
What changes:
- No more updates. Bug fixes and security patches stop. As your TV, stick or phone updates its system, the app can start crashing or stop playing some streams.
- No reinstalls. If you factory reset the device, or buy a new one, you can't get it back from the store.
- Errors you can't fix. Some of the "stuck on retry" and playback errors people now see come from the app itself. Our guide to IPTV Smarters stuck on retry covers what you can still try.
Our advice: move to a supported player now, while things still work, rather than on the night of a big match.
Don't chase it on APK sites
Search for the app and you'll find plenty of sites offering "IPTV Smarters Pro APK", often with a download code for Fire TV. With the official listings gone, there's no reliable way to know whether a given file is the genuine app or a modified one. Modified IPTV players are a well-known way to put adware or worse onto TV sticks, and those devices often sit on the same home network as your laptop and phone. We cover the wider risks in Is IPTV safe?
If a seller tells you to install Smarters from a code they give you, that tells you something about the seller too.
The best IPTV Smarters Pro alternatives
The good news: everything that worked in Smarters works in these. They all accept M3U playlist links and Xtream Codes logins (server address, username, password), so moving over takes a few minutes.
| Your device | Switch to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Android TV, Google TV | TiviMate | Better guide than Smarters, still on Google Play |
| Fire TV Stick 4K, 4K Max, Cube | TiviMate (sideloaded from the official site) | Same as above; not in the Amazon Appstore |
| Fire TV Stick 4K Select or new HD | Store apps only | These run Vega OS and can't sideload |
| iPhone, iPad, Apple TV | UHF or IPTVX | Both on the App Store with guide and catch-up |
| Samsung, LG smart TV | Smart IPTV | Updated in July 2026, one-time €5.49 per TV |
| Windows, Mac | VLC or Kodi | Free, from the official websites |
For the reasoning behind each, see the best IPTV player for every device. If you're on a Fire TV, check whether yours can still sideload in our Vega OS guide before you try.
How to move your setup to a new player
- Find your login details. In Smarters, open your user profile (the list of users on the first screen) and note the server URL, username and password, or the M3U link. If you can't see them, your service's welcome email will have them.
- Install the new player from your device's official store (or TiviMate's own site on a sideload-capable Fire TV).
- Add the playlist. Choose "Xtream Codes" if you have a server, username and password, or "M3U playlist" if you have a single link. Our TiviMate playlist guide shows each screen.
- Load the TV guide. Xtream logins usually bring the guide with them. With an M3U link you may need to add an EPG link separately.
- Uninstall Smarters once everything works, so nothing is left running without updates.
One last point, because it comes up a lot: a player being removed from a store isn't the same as it being illegal to use. The players are legal software. The removals happened because of what many people were watching through them. If you're unsure where your own service stands, read Is IPTV legal?
Frequently asked questions
- Why was IPTV Smarters Pro removed?
- In early 2026 the Indian broadcaster JioStar got 36 IPTV apps with over 26 million combined downloads taken down from Google Play and the App Store during the T20 World Cup, arguing they were widely used to watch pirated streams. IPTV Smarters Pro was one of them. It had also been ordered off Google Play by a Madrid court in 2022 after a complaint by LaLiga.
- Will IPTV Smarters Pro keep working if I already have it installed?
- Usually yes, for now. App stores remove the listing but haven't remotely deleted copies already on people's devices. You won't get updates, though, so it will slowly break as devices and systems update.
- Is it safe to download IPTV Smarters Pro as an APK?
- We wouldn't. With the app gone from the official stores, copies on APK sites and behind download codes are unverified, and modified versions are a known way to spread malware. Use a player that's still in your device's store.
- What is the best alternative to IPTV Smarters Pro?
- TiviMate on Android TV, Google TV and sideload-capable Fire TV devices. UHF or IPTVX on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Smart IPTV on Samsung and LG TVs. All accept the same M3U playlists and Xtream Codes logins that Smarters used.
- Is Smarters Player Lite the same app?
- It's from the same developer and was still on the US App Store in September 2026, but it's a simpler player. An app on the store called just "IPTV Smarters" is published by a different company.
