The Best IPTV App for Samsung and LG Smart TVs

Samsung and LG TVs can't run TiviMate, so the choice comes down to a few built-in store apps, or plugging in a stick. Here's how they compare.

The best IPTV app for Samsung and LG smart TVs is Smart IPTV. It's the longest-running player on both platforms, it's still being updated (a new version shipped in July 2026), and it costs a one-off €5.49 per TV after a free trial. IBO Player is a popular alternative with a slicker look, and SS IPTV is free but dated. For anyone who watches a lot of IPTV, though, a streaming stick plugged into the TV beats all of them.

Why the choice is limited

Samsung TVs run Tizen and LG TVs run webOS. Neither runs Android apps, so TiviMate and most popular players can't be installed. You're limited to apps in Samsung's and LG's own stores, where the selection is small and the apps are simpler than their Android equivalents. It's not that nobody has tried; it's that these platforms are harder to build for.

Check your TV's software first

App support depends on your TV's system version, and an older TV is the most common reason an app won't install. To check:

  • Samsung: Settings > Support > About This TV. Smart IPTV's current version needs Tizen 6.5 or later, which means 2022 and newer models.
  • LG: Settings > General (or Support) > About This TV. The current Smart IPTV version supports webOS 3.0 and later.

If your TV is older than that, the store may offer an older app version or nothing at all. That's the clearest case for plugging in a streaming stick instead.

Smart IPTV: our pick

Smart IPTV is simple, stable and maintained. In July 2026 it released version 3.1.3 for Samsung Tizen 6.5+ and LG webOS 3.0+, adding channel and guide search, favourites editing and DRM support (siptv.app). You upload your playlist through its website using the MAC address the app shows on your TV, which is clunky once and painless afterwards. The activation fee is a one-time €5.49 per TV or device.

Its limitations: no recording, a simpler guide than TiviMate, and the website upload step. Full setup in how to set up IPTV on a Samsung or LG TV.

IBO Player

IBO Player is available in the Samsung and LG stores and on other platforms, with a more modern-looking interface. After a free trial it charges an activation fee, with yearly and lifetime options. Pricing has varied and third-party sites quote different figures, so check the official site, iboplayer.com, before paying. Be careful with lookalikes: IBO's name is widely copied, and some sites selling "IBO activation" are resellers bundling unlicensed channel subscriptions.

SS IPTV

SS IPTV is free and has been around for a long time, originally on LG, with playlists managed through its website (ss-iptv.com). It works for basic M3U playback, but it looks and feels older than the others. Worth trying if you don't want to pay anything, but don't expect TiviMate-level polish.

The better option for most people: a stick

If IPTV is a big part of your viewing, plug a Google TV streaming device into a spare HDMI port. For roughly the price of a couple of months of a paid TV service, you get TiviMate from Google Play with a far better guide, recording, catch-up and multiview, and a device that gets updated separately from the TV. We compare the options in Firestick vs Apple TV vs Android TV. If you pick a Fire TV Stick, avoid the 4K Select and 2026 HD models, which can't install TiviMate; see our Vega OS guide.

Don't forget what's already on your TV

Samsung TVs come with Samsung TV Plus and LG TVs with LG Channels: free, legal live TV services with hundreds of channels and a guide, no playlist or activation needed. Add Pluto TV and Tubi from the TV's store and you may not need a paid service at all. See the best free live TV apps.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best IPTV app for Samsung smart TV?
Smart IPTV. It's the longest-running player on Samsung's Tizen TVs, it was updated in July 2026, and it costs a one-time 5.49 EUR per TV after a free trial.
What is the best IPTV app for LG TV?
Smart IPTV as well. It supports LG webOS 3.0 and later. SS IPTV is a free alternative on LG but is older and more basic.
Can I install TiviMate on a Samsung or LG TV?
No. TiviMate only runs on Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV. Plug a Google TV stick into the TV if you want it.
Are there free IPTV apps for Samsung and LG?
SS IPTV is free. Smart IPTV and IBO Player offer free trials, then charge activation fees. The built-in Samsung TV Plus and LG Channels services are free and include hundreds of live channels with no playlist needed.
Is Smart IPTV free?
Only for the trial. After that, Smart IPTV charges a one-time activation fee of 5.49 EUR per TV or device, according to its official site. There's no subscription.
Can I use IPTV on an older Samsung or LG TV?
Sometimes. Smart IPTV's current version needs Samsung Tizen 6.5 or later (2022+ models) or LG webOS 3.0 or later. Older TVs may only get older app versions, so a streaming stick is often the better route.
