When TiviMate stops working, the cause is usually your playlist or service, not the app. TiviMate is only a player; it doesn't host channels, so "TiviMate is down" almost always means the service is down, blocked, expired or over its connection limit. The quickest diagnosis is to test the same playlist in VLC. If it fails there too, the problem is outside TiviMate.
Find your symptom
| Symptom | Most likely cause |
|---|---|
| Nothing plays on any channel | Service down, expired, blocked, or too many connections |
| Playlist won't load / 0 channels | Wrong or changed details, expired account |
| Some channels play, others don't | Those streams are down |
| Guide says No information | EPG source missing or mismatched |
| App crashes or freezes | Device memory, storage or cache |
| Premium features locked again | Signed out of the purchase account |
Nothing plays
- Test in VLC on a computer (how). If VLC fails, it's the service.
- Check your account hasn't expired.
- Check connections: close the app on other devices and stop recordings; see connection limits.
- Try mobile data via a phone hotspot. If it works there, your internet provider may be blocking the service, which courts order in several countries for unlicensed services.
Playlist won't load
Go to Settings > Playlists, open your playlist and check the URL or Xtream details character by character. Services change servers; ask yours for current details and edit the playlist rather than deleting it, so you keep favourites. Full walkthrough: M3U playlist not working.
Guide is empty
App crashes or freezes
- Clear TiviMate's cache in the device's app settings (not data, which removes playlists).
- Free up storage and restart the device.
- Hide channel groups you don't watch, and reduce how many days of guide are kept.
- Update TiviMate from Google Play, or from its official site on Fire TV.
Fire TV specifics: IPTV freezing on Firestick.
Premium features locked
Premium is tied to the account you bought it with: through Google Play on Google TV, or through the TiviMate Companion app on devices without Google Play such as Fire TV (TiviMate Companion). Sign in with that account again. If you bought a "lifetime code" from a third-party site, it may have been revoked; see TiviMate Premium explained.
After a TiviMate update
Occasionally an update changes a setting or needs the guide to rebuild. If channels or the guide look wrong right after updating, restart the device and run a playlist and EPG update manually. If a new version genuinely misbehaves, give it a few days: developers usually fix regressions quickly.
Back up before big changes
Before reinstalling or clearing data, note your playlist details and guide links somewhere safe. Favourites, hidden groups and custom guide matches are stored in the app, and clearing data removes them. With Premium, your account keeps your licence, not your channel setup.
Is it a device problem?
If TiviMate behaves on one TV but not another with the same playlist, compare the devices: free storage, memory, Wi-Fi strength and software version. Budget sticks often struggle with huge playlists that bigger boxes handle easily; see Nvidia Shield vs Firestick.
Still stuck?
If VLC plays the playlist and TiviMate still won't after clearing cache, updating and re-adding it, try another player briefly to rule out a device issue; see Android TV players.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Clearing app data instead of cache.
- Buying third-party Premium codes.
- Assuming TiviMate is down when the service is.
TiviMate won't install
On Amazon's Vega OS sticks (Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the 2026 Stick HD), it can't be installed at all; see our Vega OS guide. On Fire OS devices, check Downloader is allowed under Install unknown apps; see installing Downloader.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is TiviMate not working?
- Most often the playlist or service: an expired account, changed server details, the service being down or blocked, or too many connections in use. App problems like crashes and a lost Premium licence are less common and have separate fixes.
- Is TiviMate down?
- TiviMate is a player with no servers of its own for your channels, so there's rarely a TiviMate outage. If nothing plays, your IPTV service is the likely cause. Test the playlist in VLC to confirm.
- Why did TiviMate Premium stop working?
- Check you're signed in to the same account used to buy it, in the app or in the TiviMate Companion app on devices without Google Play. Reinstalling or changing device can require signing in again.
- Why does TiviMate keep crashing?
- On small sticks, usually low memory or storage, or a very large playlist and guide. Clear the cache, free up space, hide unused channel groups and restart the device.
- How do I update TiviMate?
- On Google TV, through Google Play. On Fire TV, download the latest version from TiviMate's official site with Downloader.
- Does clearing TiviMate's cache delete my playlists?
- No. Clearing cache keeps playlists and settings; clearing data removes them.
- Why does TiviMate say no channels?
- The playlist loaded empty: a wrong link, an expired account, or the service returning nothing. Check the link in a browser.
- Why does TiviMate keep buffering?
- Usually Wi-Fi or the service's servers. See our buffering guide to tell which.
- Why does TiviMate show the wrong programme?
- Channel IDs are mismatched in the guide. Re-match the channel in TiviMate.
- Why does TiviMate not install on my Fire TV?
- Either it's a Vega OS model, which can't sideload, or Downloader isn't allowed under Install unknown apps.
