XCIPTV Player is a free IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV, phones and tablets. It handles Xtream Codes logins and M3U playlists, and includes a TV guide, catch-up, recording, films and series. It isn't as polished as TiviMate on a big screen, but it costs nothing, works on touchscreens as well as TVs, and has features other free players lack.
What XCIPTV is
XCIPTV is made by OTTRUN, the same developer as the now-removed Televizo. When we checked the US Google Play Store on 30 September 2026, it was listed with 10 million+ downloads and had been updated in August 2026 (XCIPTV on Google Play). It was among the apps named in JioStar's 2026 takedown in India, so availability can differ by country.
Its store listing says it includes:
- Two built-in players (ExoPlayer and VLC), with adaptive HLS streaming.
- EPG support for Xtream Codes, EZServer and M3U.
- Catch-up from the guide.
- Films with IMDb information, and series by season and episode.
- Favourites for channels, films and series.
- Backup and restore, with sync across devices.
- Scheduled recording to internal or external storage, and programme reminders.
Like every legitimate player, it comes with no channels. The listing says so plainly.
Branded versions
XCIPTV is designed so services can brand it. You may see an app that looks exactly like XCIPTV with a service's logo on it, sometimes installed by download code. We'd use the official version from Google Play and enter your login yourself, rather than an unofficial branded copy whose origin you can't check. See Is IPTV safe?
Setting it up
- Install XCIPTV PLAYER (developer: OTTRUN) from Google Play.
- Open it and choose Xtream Codes if you have a server, username and password, or M3U if you have one playlist link. Xtream is the better choice when you have it; see M3U vs Xtream Codes.
- Enter the details exactly, including
http://and any port number. - Let it load channels, films, series and the guide, then open Live TV.
Settings worth changing
- Player choice: if a channel stutters or won't play, switch between the two built-in players in the settings.
- Recording location: point recordings at external storage if your device has it. Internal storage on streaming sticks fills fast.
- Backup: use backup and restore once you've set up favourites, so a reinstall doesn't lose them.
What it does well
- Free recording and catch-up, which TiviMate charges for.
- Works on phones and tablets as well as TVs. TiviMate is TV-only.
- Good on-demand browsing with film information.
Where it falls short
- The guide is plainer and less customisable than TiviMate's.
- Big playlists feel slower to browse on budget sticks.
- Fewer options for tidying channel groups.
Common XCIPTV problems
- Login refused: check server, username and password; confirm the account is active.
- Guide empty: refresh from settings or re-add the login; see EPG not working.
- Channel won't play: switch between the two built-in players.
- Recording fails: check free storage and your connection limit.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Installing an unofficial branded copy instead of the official app from Google Play.
- Recording to a Fire TV Stick's tiny internal storage.
- Using the M3U option when Xtream details are available.
Our verdict
XCIPTV is the best free all-rounder on Android, especially if you also watch on a phone or tablet. On a TV, if you watch live channels every day, TiviMate is still the nicer experience; our TiviMate vs XCIPTV comparison goes through the differences.
